The house is a timberframe with strawbale infill, 3 storey, 195\u00a0<abbr title=\"metres squared\">m<sup>2<\/sup><\/abbr> (2100\u00a0<abbr title=\"square feet\">sq.\u00a0ft.<\/abbr>) building. The cabin is a load-bearing strawbale contruction, 1.5 storey and 60\u00a0<abbr title=\"metres squared\">m<sup>2<\/sup><\/abbr> (650\u00a0<abbr title=\"square feet\">sq.\u00a0ft.<\/abbr>).<\/p>\n<p>They have several appliances running on this system, including<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a freezer<\/li>\n<li>a washing machine<\/li>\n<li>power tools<\/li>\n<li>a refrigerator, and<\/li>\n<li>many other kitchen appliances.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The main problems faced with this RE system was that several of the nuts were not tightened properly by the installer, which resulted in issues related to power usage. Once these nuts were tightened, there were no subsequent problems.<\/p>\n<p>This turbine was constructed at a workshop at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fallsbrookcentre.ca\/\">Falls Brook Centre<\/a>, based on a model created by Hugh Piggott. It is a 3\u00a0<abbr title=\"metres\">m<\/abbr> (10\u2032) diameter wood blade with a direct-drive system.
